Twitter has suspended the account of the GOP candidate running against Rep. Ilhan Omar for saying that Omar had passed sensitive information to Iran and asserting, “If it is proven,… she should be tried for treason and hanged.” Ilhan, who was born in Somalia, is one of three Muslims currently serving in the US House of Representatives. Only one person has ever been executed for treason against the federal government: William Bruce Mumford, who was convicted of treason and hanged in 1862, during the Civil War.
