According to the World Tourism and Travel Council, Iran’s effort to maker tourism a major financial boon for Iran flopped even before President Trump re-imposed sanctions. It says Iran saw tourism revenues of $3.2 billion in 2014 and $3.3 billion in 2015, the last two years under international sanctions. Revenues then rose slightly to $3.5 billion in 2016, the first year out from under sanctions, but fell back to a dismal $2.8 billion in 2017, the first year of the Trump Administration but before he started to slam Iran this year.
