The Guardian Council has approved a Majlis bill to convert the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) into a Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. This will become Iran’s 19th full-fledged ministry. Many in the tourism business are unhappy with this change because a ministry must report to and be responsive to the Majlis, while the old organization reported only to the Presidency.
