for chiefs of state to come to Iran for the August 26-31 summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). At that summit, the Islamic Republic will take over the NAM chairmanship for three years. It is expected to try to use the NAM chairmanship as a major platform to advance its ambitions in the world. The NAM has been largely inactive for many years. Egypt has been chair the last three years and has done next-to-nothing with it. In fact, the NAM doesn’t even have a website!
