Artworks chosen for the project deal with subjects related to the holiday celebration, the Mehr news agency reported.
According to Mojtaba Musavi, the cultural deputy of the Tehran Beautification Organization (TBO), the artworks are classified in four categories—environmental art; trove of trees; graffiti; and Now Ruz eggs. The works will remain on display through April 20.
Of the ideas submitted by artists, 101 are for the Environmental Art section that includes street installations and 40 belong to the Trove of Trees section, in which artists will decorate the trees of Vali-e Asr Avenue.
“The Graffiti section demands artists find small walls in different neighborhoods, and then submit a design matching the features of the wall and its surroundings,” Musavi said.
For the Now Ruz Egg section, 392 egg-shaped objects will be painted by artists, 311 of whom are professionals. Decorative eggs have been part of the Now Ruz celebration for millennia and are the origin of the Easter eggs known throughout Christendom.
