Her parents, Ali and Hajer, went to the gravesite last Monday. The area of the cemetery had been cordoned off by security forces and only approved relatives were allowed to approach the grave, The Times quoted Caspian Makan, who had been engaged to Neda, as saying.
He said the police became agitated when Neda’s mother began sobbing. Makan said, “Hajer was told to be quiet and stop crying because she was attracting too much attention.”
That irritated the father, who cursed the security forces for being disrespectful, Makan said. A scuffle broke out. The father was wrestled to the ground by the officers, who placed him a headlock.
Later, Makan said, the parents went into the city and tried to place flowers at the site where Neda died. Another scuffle broke out after police who had approved the event apparently changed their minds.
