The City of Toronto announced last Friday that Nancy and Sepehr, two medium-sized dogs about eight years old, had arrived at the city’s animal shelter and were available for adoption.
The Toronto announcement said Nancy and Sepehr were among 15 dogs seized earlier this year by a Tehran shelter from a dilapidated zoo. With dog ownership under ideological assault in Iran, the Tehran shelter felt it could not put the animals up for adoption and asked Humane Society International for help.
That society appealed to cities all around the world to take the dogs and Toronto took Nancy and Sepehr. The announcement did not say where the other 13 dogs have gone.
Toronto said the two animals had received some minor dental work in Toronto and were now ready for adoption.
