Two ways to look at inflation
Two ways to look at inflation

The inflation rate continued to hold steady just under 10 percent last month for the fourth month in a row, though the re-imposition of US sanctions is expected to send the rate back into double digits before too long. The rate as of the end of the month of Ordibehesht, ending May 21, was 9.1 percent when calculated as a 12-month average, which was one-tenth of a percentage point lower than the previous month. When compared with the same month last year, the rate was 9.7 percent, a substantial jump from the 7.9 percent recorded as of the previous month. That jump ended a marked decline from 10.0 percent five months ago, to succeeding months of 9.7 percent, 9.4 percent, 8.3 percent, 7.9 percent and now 9.7 percent.
