According to the legislation, the ministry was supposed to be up and running by April 9. The president long ago said he opposed such a ministry. Ahmadi-nejad also ignored the Majlis law on phasing out subsidies and is running the program the way he wants to run it. Because the Majlis has been silenced on the subsidy issue by the Supreme Leader, Larijani has apparently decided to pick a fight with the president over the Sports Ministry.
