The acting minister in charge of Iran’s universities says a review of the cases of students dropped from the rolls because of their political activities has resulted in “a number” of them being able to return to their studies.
Jafar Tofiqi, the acting minister of science who also oversees higher education, did not say how many cases had yet been reviewed or how many students have yet returned to the classroom.
Under the Ahmadi-nejad Administration, the files of students who were active in the opposition were “starred” and an unknown of them were expelled or suspended from their universities.
Tofiqi said flatly that there will be no more “starred” files under the Rohani Administration.
