Chain stores in Iran hold only 5 percent of the retail market, according to Deputy Industries Minister Mojtaba Khosrowtaj. The head of the National Association of Chain Stores, Amir Khosrow Fakhrian said there are only 2,000 chain stores in the entire country and they employ 20,000 staff. That amounts to an average of 10 employees per store, which means they are very small.
