The US media has been filled the last few weeks with GOP charges that President Obama paid a “ransom” to Iran of $400 million for the release of four Iranian-American dual citizens. But the Iranian media have been strangely silent on the topic, although some Iranian officials said back in January that Obama had paid a ransom. The Iranian media has also been oddly silent about the vocal charges by GOP nominee Donald Trump (photo) that Obama is “the founder” of the Islamic State. This silence is notable considering that Islamic Republic’s rhetoric for the last few years has said that the United States founded the Islamic State, funds it and is only pretending to fight it.
