Word has it that the CIA threw a conniption fit and the State Department backed off. During the George W. Bush years, nothing more was heard about the stack of documents. President Obama has now been in office more than two years—and nothing has changed. The State Department is still not planning to release the coup documents. The Christian Science Monitor last week said the CIA “keeps finding new passages in the texts where it feels declassification would be harmful. It also insists on taking new looks at previously approved portions as its reviewing officers turn over.”
