Three weeks after two Sunni clerics were shot dead in Gonbad-e Kavus, the police announced the arrest of three suspects, all Sunnis, who were described as having “no connection with terrorist groups.” The police announcement said the murders were motivated by a “personal conflict,” which the police did not further explain.
