‘Sense’ of no war

A lot of attention has been focused on legislation passed unanimously in the House of Representatives May 24, which many writers say would stop President Trump from going to war against Iran. The legislation, however, is a “sense of the Congress” resolution that has no binding legal effect whatsoever. The legislation was introduced by Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison (photo) of Minnesota, one of two Muslims in Congress. The text says: “It is the sense of the Congress that the use of the Armed Forces against Iran is not authorized by this Act or any other Act.”
