As of the end of last week, the Senate bill to impose more sanctions on Iran finally got a bare majority of senators signed on as sponsors. The 52 sponsors are 44 Republicans (out of 54) and just eight Democrats (out of 46). All eight Democrats signed on in January, and no more have agreed to support the bill since then. It is still far from the 67 votes it will need to override a promised presidential veto.
