have a minimum of one hospital reserved for women only and staffed by women only.
Dastjerdi said Tehran already has three women-only hospitals operating.
The new policy is part of the new emphasis on gender segregation, which has gone into high gear in the past year with the regime starting to segregate college campuses this fall.
She said the main goal of the segregated medical facilities is to “make women patients comfortable.”
Dastjerdi said, “Many provinces and universities have begun establishing women-only hospitals. Those that have not begun work on it are required to establish at last one women-only hospital soon.” She did not mandate a concrete deadline, however.
Neither did she address the issue of how full service will be provided across the spectrum of care if there are no male specialists in the women-only hospitals. Many critics have commented that there are many fully qualified women doctors, but that there are many specialties that have only a handful of women physicians.
