Tareq Achrash, a teacher in Khuzestan province, has a unique commute to work. He has to row himself there. The Education Ministry assigned him to the coastal village of Atish.

The children of 23 families living in the village of Maqtoe on an offshore island would also come each day to his school. But when their boat capsized one day, their parents wouldn’t let them go to the mainland school any longer.

So Achrash now goes by rowboat to the island each day and teaches them there. Note that he teaches boys and girls together
