A rocket hit the Iranian embassy in Kabul November 21. The Islamic Republic promptly blamed the United States.
Iran said the rocket did some damage but did not injure anyone in the embassy compound.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said the United States was directly responsible for the attack. He did not say how he knew that.
The Afghan government said a total of 14 rockets were fired into the capital city that morning, killing at least three people.
There has so far been no claim of responsibility for the rocket attack. Such attacks have been quite common in recent years.
