The clothing showed much more color than is usually seen on the streets of Tehran and also much more variety.
The designs were shown at the Niavaran Cultural Festival, which opened Saturday with Culture Minister Mohammad Hossaini attending and praising the work.
This is not the first time the government has promoted fashionable designs that meet the religious rules of hejab. But the previous designs have never been adopted in large numbers on the street.
Minister Hossaini seemed to recognize that when he said the designs should be mass-produced and made widely available in shops. He also told the media to publicize the designs.
Hossaini said there were two types of clothing on display. “First is outdoor clothing and the second type is good for attending parties. Of course, we certainly do not focus on the second type.”
