Regime admits Stuxnet still here

ing to clean the Stuxnet computer worm out of computers across Iran.

“The infected computers are being cleaned of the worm,” Telecommunications Minister Reza Taqipur told the Mehr news agency Monday.

He failed to say how many computers had been infected or how many remained to be cleared.

He said “most” government agencies had successfully cleared the malware out of their computers.

Taqipur insisted that the government had been able to keep the worm from spreading, but he failed to say how that could be done.

He also said that those behind the Stuxnet threat had been identified—but he didn’t say who they were.  Computer specialists say it isn’t known who produced the Stuxnet worm and probably will never be done as it is virtually impossible to trace such worms back to their origins.

Taqipur said, “Some of these individuals were foreign experts who had been visiting industrial centers and some were uninformed people who transferred the worm inadvertently through portable memories.”
