The answer is: “Shahs of Sunset,” a brand new reality TV show that will start airing next month and will show how Iranian-Americans “really live.”
Take that last phrase with a grain of salt. This is TV, after all.
“Shahs of Sunset” will premiere March 11 at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central on the Bravo cable channel. It will follow six “passionate socialites” in their 30s as they try to balance their careers with their social lives and with Persian tradition.
What might you call that: Wine and chello kabob? Or maybe tadiq in a push-up bra?
A short promotional video says four of the six work in real estate in pricey areas around Los Angeles. One is an openly gay man. There are no physicians or engineers. Sorry, mom.

“Shahs of Sunset” is produced by Ryan Secrest, who is the host on “American Idol” and also the producer of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” a reality show about three Armenian-American sisters whose names all begin with K.
On “Shahs of Sunset,” you will get to meet GG, who has a “fiery temper” and is looking “for Mr. Persian Right” and eager to settle down, but is having a hard time finding a man who can support her lavish lifestyle and cope with her “unapologetic personality.”
And there is also MJ who fights with her “overbearing” mother, Vida, about everything. Then there is Reza, who is openly gay but has the support of his family despite pressure from the community to ostracize him.
