The sentence appears to be a warning to her father, a public declaration of his political insignificance today, but mainly a settling of scores with his daughter, Faezeh, who has offended many males by her aggressive and out-spoken political behavior.
Faezeh has 20 days in which to appeal and an appeals court could still take a less hardline stand. Faezeh has been arrested multiple times, but quickly released each time without trial.
Her final undoing was an interview she gave last year in which she said the Ahmadi-nejad Administration was run by “a bunch of thugs and hoodlums.”
The sentence from the Tehran Revolutionary Court included a five-year proscription on any cultural, political or media activities after her six-month jail term. Faezeh became very active politically during her father’s two terms as president. She was elected to one term as a Majlis deputy.
Before that, she was best known for her work promoting women’s sports.
