PressTV says Ofcom is about to shut it down because the British royal family doesn’t like PressTV, the English broadcast arm of the Iranian state broadcasting. Really? We’d bet a quid or two that nobody in the royal family even knows what PressTV is. Ofcom ruled earlier that PressTV, which has a production office in London, violated press rules by broadcasting an interview with Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari that had been coerced while he was imprisoned. Ofcom says it is still trying to decide on what punishment to impose on PressTV for its violation and has not decided to close down its London office.
