Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf (photo), who used to complain repeatedly that the Ahmadi-nejad Administration was withholding government funds assigned for the Tehran Metro, is now complaining that the Rohani Administration is withholding government funds assigned for the Tehran Metro. Qalibaf said the national government is supposed to pay half the cost of building and operating the subway system. “It has failed to meet this obligation until now,” he said. If the government is serious about fighting air pollution, he said it must help public transport.
