Ahmadi-nejad spoke at vast length about the evils of the Americans in a television interview during his visit last week to Sistan va Baluchestan province. Two-thirds of the way through the program, the television interviewer asked Ahmadi-nejad about the schemes of the United States. Ahmadi-nejad then took off and spoke without pause for the rest of the program in what appears to have been a pre-arranged speech inserted in the interview.
It was another of his patented diatribes against the United States, mixing a soupcon of facts with his own unique—some might say, oddball—interpretations.
His goal was to paint the United States as a bird of prey sucking the blood from the rest of the world. He also painted the Islamic Republic as the guardian coming to the world’s rescue.
“The Americans are trying to govern the world,” Ahmadi-nejad began. “They convinced almost everybody [about this] about 30 years ago. Everybody, except for one nation, accepted this until 10 years ago. There was a nation, which said it did not accept that. Why? Why should you [Americans] govern the world? We want to govern it. The historical experience has also shown that Iranians govern much better and more justly.
“Their [the Americans] main disagreement with us is on this issue. They want to dominate the world by cheating people. They want to renew colonialism and slavery, but in another form.”
Ahmadi-nejad said there wasn’t enough time to describe how the Americans were robbing the world. He then went on, at great length, to explain how the Americans were robbing the world.
He said it all began with the US budget deficit of $1.6 trillion. “Now, how does it cover this budget deficit? From the pockets of other nations, that’s how. The dollar is an international currency in this world. They [Americans] issue banknotes. They spend 50 tomans [5 cents] on it, but write 100,000 tomans—$100—on it. They scatter it throughout the world. Nobody can control this, because nobody supervises the US central bank.
“Or they add a zero to those bank accounts, which are in dollars, and take goods instead of that money,” Ahmadi-nejad continued with his strange financial lesson.
“For example, you and I have $100 dollars in our bank accounts. They say they will turn those $100 into $1,000. Then they say: ‘Give me goods instead of the remaining $900 dollars.’ This has no value. They just inject the money into the world economy. They transfer inflation to other nations and put the profit into their own pockets. During the past 30 years, more than $30 trillion has been taken in this way. These are figures that even they agree with. This is a huge robbery. How much they humiliate nations!”
Ahmadi-nejad continued: “They are ruling the world like this.… They tried to prevent our development. They failed. The story of sanctions, the story of the nuclear [plan], all these were meant to prevent our development.
“They know that Iranians are talented and if you give them an opportunity, they will advance to the peaks of science, industry and economy.… Iranians are talented and they will move forward and lead everyone toward the peaks—not by force, but by culture. When Iran had a government in the [ancient] world, it never used power. Iran did everything through culture. Everyone liked to join Iran,” he said, totally ignoring the conquering armies the Iranian empire had in the ancient world.
“They [Westerners] are saying Iran is dangerous. Why is Iran dangerous? Yes, I confirm here officially that Iran is dangerous for international thieves, oppressors, occupiers, professional killers, because Iran’s culture and thoughts are against these actions. However, for the people of the world, Iran is a friend—kind and merciful. It has been proven.”
Ahmadi-nejad continued his attack on the United States: “You can now hear them say that they are supporting the peoples of the world. They are lying. They are lying even now. They cheat everywhere, in all countries.”
But, he said, there is a country in this world that the downtrodden people can trust.
“Who is the closest friend of the Pakistani people? It is Iran. Who is the closest friend of the Afghan people? Now, about 3 million Afghans are living in Iran.… We welcomed them like our brothers.… The best friend of the Arabs is Iran, as it protects their honor and independence. Even the best friends of the American people are the Iranian people, because we seek to rescue them without using power. This is a point that makes Iranians different.”
The American government, however, is fearful of giving the people of the world a choice, he said. “That means their end. How many times have I said that I am ready to engage in debates with US presidents? Why do they not come? They are afraid. I know that they are afraid. They think they will have nothing to say if they participate in debates. Iran will ask them 10 questions. How can they answer them? What will they answer if Iran asks them who committed the 9/11 attacks? Who told you [the US] that you could invent such a thing, report it, and force others to believe it?… I say today and I said last year that America is a good friend for no one.”
Of course, Ahmadi-nejad said, Iranians do not accept America’s scheme for dominating Iran and the entire world. “We have a plan for changing the governance of the world. Our plan is very clear. We say that unrighteous people should be replaced by righteous people. Anti-humane laws will be replaced by humanity-oriented laws. It is all very simple.…
“Where did this plan come from? From the depth of culture of the Iranian people, Iranian history, Iranian thinking. This will be a replacement. Have no doubt that this theory will replace [the old one].… The train is in motion and God willing, will travel around the world.”
