The regime’s security forces arrested at least 127 Iranians in March this year, more than twice the 63 arrested in March 2024, the Norway-based Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has announced.
That worked out at four political arrests every day in March.
Hengaw said the overwhelming majority of the arrestees were ethnic minorities. It said 52 percent were Kurds, 24 percent Baluchis, 9 percent Lurs and 7 percent Turkics, with a single Gilaki and a single Arab arrested. Only 7 percent of those arrested were Persians, Hengaw said.
It said 17 of the March arrestees were women with just over half of them (nine) being Kurds.
March saw just three religious activists tossed in jail one Baha’i, one Yarsani and one Sunni.
