Pentagon plans war on Iran with no bombs

May 17, 2019

While much of the world is turned topsy-turvy worrying about a shooting war between Iran and the United States, it turns out the Pentagon has for years been planning for a non-shooting war with Iran.

The New York Times reported May 14 that one war plan code-named “Nitro Zeus” that was drafted some years ago and has been constantly updated laid out the world’s first cyber war.

The Times said the plan detailed how to dismantle Iran’s power grid, disorient its major cities and disrupt military communications with cyber attacks.

The Times said, “The idea was to use cyber weapons to paralyze Iran in the opening hours of any conflict in hopes that it would obviate the need to drop any bombs or conduct a traditional attack.”

The Times’ report on “Nitro Zeus” was buried in the closing paragraphs of a major story on the day’s developments in the Persian Gulf.
