Passing

February 2, 2024

The Tasnim news agency has reported that Masud Rajavi (photo), the long-time leader of the Mojahedin-e Khalq, who was last seen in 2003 in Baghdad just before the American military seized the city, died three years ago of a heart attack.  This fanciful report was attributed to an unnamed Iranian security official. Tasnim said Rajavi suffered facial injuries during the US invasion and that was partly why he chose not to appear in public.  It said Rajavi fled to Jordan where he spent his time in hiding and therefore lacked proper medical care.  But it then says Rajavi was under US control “with some documents pointing to the US as his hiding place.”  He would be 75 today if still alive.
