The parade was led by New York City policemen on horseback (above), with one of them carrying the pre-revolutionary Iranian flag. The parade itself included lots of floats, like the one at right, plus colorfully dressed dancing girls, and, not to be forgotten, the musclemen from the zurkhaneh (below), which may have confused some New Yorkers. Then, of course, there had to be the blackfaced Haji Firuz (lower right), which certainly raised some eyebrows on the streets of New York
