Defense Minister Hossain Dehqan (photo) says Iran is insisting that Russia sell it the S-300 air defense missile system that Iran contracted for in 2007. Then in 2010, Russia abrogated the contract saying it couldn’t sell Iran the missiles under UN sanctions. Iran screamed loudly for a year or so, but more recently has been saying it doesn’t want the S-300 because it is building something even better itself. Dehqan didn’t explain why he now wants to buy the inferior S-300.
