has been released from the hospital—but his future as a referee remains in doubt.
Rafati, 41, was released from the hospital last Monday after 48 hours of hospitalization. (See story in last week’s Iran Times, page four.)
Police have said they found a suicide note in Rafati’s hotel room where he was found by assistant referees just before a November 19 game in the country’s top professional league. But the police have not said if the note gave a reason for his attempting suicide.
Herbert Fandel, the chief of referees for the league, said it was too soon to determine if Rafati would return to refereeing.
