The ship Atlantic Cruiser is owned by the German firm Bockstiegel, flagged in Antigua and being operated by a Ukrainian company.
When news reports surfaced asserting the ship had docked in Africa and loaded up with Iranian arms for Syria, Bockstiegel ordered the vessel into the Turkish port of Iskenderun.
The ship was unloaded and searched container-by-container. Turkish customs officials then announced, “Nothing was found that can be described as weapons, munitions or military materials inside any of the checked goods.”
The ship is now free to sail on to Tartous in Syria.
