Lawyers for Jian Ghomeshi appeared briefly in a Toronto courtroom last Wednesday to set a new date in his headline-grabbing sexual assault case.
The next hearing has been scheduled for February 26.
The disgraced former CBC Radio host did not appear as defense lawyer Danielle Robitaille told the court her legal team had received more than 1,000 documents related to the prosecution’s allegations but were seeking more.
The 47-year-old Ghomeshi faces seven counts of sexual assault and one of overcoming resistance by choking for incidents alleged to have occurred in 2002, 2003 and 2008.
Ghomeshi has admitted he engaged in rough sex, but insisted it was always consensual and has vowed to fight the allegations in court.
