The Islamic Republic has unveiled an “attack drone,” capable not just of spying on ground targets but of attacking them with missiles and bombs. The Pasdaran said this drone, dubbed Shahed-129 or Witness-129, can fly up to 1,700 kilometers (1,000 miles). But it did not make clear if that was its one-way or round-trip distance. It said the drone can stay in the air for 24 hours and can carry eight bombs or missiles. The absence of any human in the photo made it difficult to determine the size of the drone, though the chocks under the wheels suggest it stands about one meter high. The missiles under the wings would thus appear to be only a few inches in diameter, of a size suitable for attacking other aircraft but not any ground target.
