New soccer boss

May 13, 2016

Mehdi Taj (photo) has been elected the new president of the Iranian Football Federation for a four-year term.  He succeeds Ali Kafashian, the longest serving president of the federation at eight years and four months.  Taj received 50 votes to 15 for Mostafa Ajorlu and six for Aziz Mohammadi.  Kafashian had a very good working relationship with national coach Carlos Queiroz.  It is not know what kind of relations Taj and Queiroz have.
