Iran has proposed to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which Iran is now about to join, that its members adopt a new group currency like the euro that has been adopted by many countries in Europe. The proposal has been met with stunning silence by the other SCO members: China, Russia, India, Pakistan and four of the five Central Asian states, all but Turkmenistan.
