New chief at shrine

April 19, 2019

RaisiDebate3a[1]Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi has named a little-known cleric, Hojatoleslam Ahmad Marvi (photo), as the new custodian of the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, believed to be the wealthiest foundation in the country by far.  Marvi succeeds Ebrahim Raisi, who was recently elevated to chairman of the Judiciary.  Marvi has worked on Khamenehi’s staff for more than two decades, where he has overseen links between Khamenehi and the clergy and seminaries, a very key role.
