The Michigan appeals court has affirmed the second-degree murder conviction handed down to Nima Nassiri (photo) in 2014 for beating his bride, Sanaz Nezami, to death in 2013. His appeal included claims that his attorney was ineffective and that the jury was influenced by adverse media publicity. The appeals court rejected all his arguments. He will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
