—and US intelligence has publicly stated that Iranian missile accuracy has improved.
However, US intelligence has not said by how much Iran’s accuracy has improved. It would have to improve very greatly to change the conclusions in the accompanying article.
Iran has made no precise statistical claims about how accurate its missiles are. It has simply said they are very accurate. But it said that before it announced that it had improved the accuracy of its missiles. So there is nothing from Iran that amounts to useful information.
Missiles carrying nuclear warheads do not need to be very accurate to do considerable damage against a city or large target. A miss of a mile is not important. But a missile carrying conventional explosives has to be very accurate to do real damage. An error the length of a football field creates a crater far from the intended target.
