The website Sahamnews, which is linked to the Karrubis, reported that Fatemeh Karrubi was allowed to go to a medical appointment Saturday.
The couple has been locked in their home since mid-February and is known to have had only a single visit from their children in the 10 weeks since then.
Meanwhile, Mir-Hossain Musavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard, who have similarly been under house arrest since mid-February, were allowed a telephone conversation with relatives.
The husband of Musavi’s sister, Mir-Hossain Habibi-Musavi, told Roozonline that the couple called him and his wife Saturday. He said the conversation was brief and confined to health and family matters, but that both Musavi and Rahnavard sounded chipper.
The couple was allowed out of detention once to attend the funeral for Musavi’s father.
On the political front, there has been considerable criticism from the right of Ali-Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani for sending a message of condolence to Musavi after his father’s death.
However, the criticism struck many as politically motivated considering that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi, who was a childhood friend of the elder Musavi, also sent his condolences. Khamenehi had his chief of staff, Mohammad Gol-payegani, visit Musavi’s brother and convey the condolence message personally.
