The labor law enacted after the revolution provides Iranian workers with broad and strong protections against being fired and also opens to door to extensive social protections.
But those protections only apply to regular employees. It has long been known that many firms resorted to short-term contracts for hiring employees and keeping them outside the law’s protections. But the scale of that kind of hiring was not previously known.
