Monitoring what?

July 24, 2020

Iran plans to double the number of its satellite ground monitoring stations from two to four in the coming Persian year, the Space Agency has announced.  It didn’t explain why it felt it needed so many.  The stations are only reading signals from a solitary satellite, the Sina-1 that Russia built and orbited for Iran in 2005.  None of the four satellites Iran has built and put into orbit has stayed in orbit as long as 100 days, so there hasn’t been much to monitor from them.
