The new justice minister appointed by President Rohani has dismissed a claim of mistreatment by one of the daughters of Mir-Hossain Musavi out of hand, calling it an effort to promote unrest.
Nargess Musavi, a daughter of the 2009 Reformist presidential candidate, said she had been pushed around by a female guard assigned as part of the force confining her father to his home. (See Iran Times of November 1, page two.)
She said the guard ordered her to strip naked for a full body search after a visit with her parents.
Mehr news agency quoted Justice Minister Mostafa Pur-Mohammadi as telling reporters, “Musavi’s daughter’s remarks are an attempt to foster unrest in the country and the government will not intervene [regarding her complaint].”
There have been many reports about Rohani trying to arrange the release of Musavi, his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, and fellow candidate Mehdi Karrubi, who have been held under house arrest since February 2011.
But Pur-Mohammadi said the Rohani Administration would not get involved in any release efforts. That is the opposite of what Rohani suggested during his campaign.
