Groups of Majlis deputies have been swirling publicly in recent weeks trying to arrange a vote to fire Science Minister Reza Faraji-Dana (photo) and perhaps the energy minister and agriculture minister as well. On Monday, news reports said they had withdrawn their motion for now for a vote on Faraji-Dana after Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani called the angry deputies into his office for a face-to-face meeting with Faraji-Dana to air their complaints. They were reportedly angry that some students who protested the 2009 election outcome and were expelled and have been allowed back into college and that some men recently chosen as university chancellors had been supporters of the losing candidates in 2009.
