Last week, the daily Iran reported that the Iranian team at the mathematics Olympiad came in first in the world. Indeed, it did—in 1998. But it came in 10th this year. And the mathematics Olympiad people this year have published the country rankings for the first time in an apparent effort to spike such false reports.
