Mahsa makes it to the Final Ten

NBC show “The Apprentice” has survived another week without multimillion dollar entrepreneur Donald Trump firing her; Mahsa Saeidi-Azcuy is now one of only 10 remaining contestants competing for a job with Trump Industries.

Last week, the 12 remaining contestants on “The Apprentice” were tasked with producing and presenting a fashion show for buyers of the Rockport shoe company.  The men’s team was told to present the women’s line and the women’s team was told to present the men’s line.

The women’s team, of which the 29-year-old Saeidi-Azcuy is a part, came up with the theme for their fashion show, which was titled, “A Day in the Life of Tristan.”

The Iranian-American contestant—who recently stepped down from her position as a deputy prosecutor in Brooklyn after her employers realized she had taken leave from work to compete on “The Apprentice”—came up with the name Tristan.

“I have always loved the name Tristan ever since I saw ‘Legends of the Fall.’  That scene when Brad Pitt comes off that horse and his blond hair and that pony tail, so immediately I thought Tristan,” Saeidi-Azcuy explained.

When it came time for the teams to present their fashion shows to the Rockport buyers, the women’s team by far outperformed the men’s team.  The women presented first, with virtually no flaws.  The men’s team, on the other hand, paled in comparison, with the MC mispronouncing names, mistaking shoe names for the names of the models and failing to engage the audience.

As for the productions themselves, the men’s team did well on styling the models with beautiful outfits, but did little else to make the show exciting.  The women’s team, on the other hand, did brilliantly on their production, so much so that when the two teams met in Trump’s boardroom, the Trump Industries executive did something he has never done in the history of the show.

“Your team so blew away the men… You were fantastic,” Trump said, adding that he was about to do something that he had never done before.   After congratulating the women’s team for winning, he turned to the men’s team.  At this point in the show, Trump typically chooses one person from the losing team to be kicked off the show.  This time, however, Trump fired both the project manager, Wade, and the MC, Gene.

This was the first episode in which Saeidi-Azcuy’s tough personality didn’t come out during the boardroom meeting.  In previous episodes, she has often been criticized by trump for her aggressive personality, but since the women’s team far outperformed the men’s team this week, the women were immediately excused from the boardroom.

The Iranian-born contestant remains safe until next week, when again, another contestant will be fired.

The show airs Thursday nights at 9/8 Central.  The show’s website is at: http://www.nbc. com/the-apprentice.
