in Brooklyn submitted her resignation last week when her bosses expressed their anger that she was vying to be chosen by the millionaire entrepreneur as his assistant on “The Apprentice” this season.
Saeidi-Azcuy, 29, who started her job prosecuting misdemeanors in Brooklyn last January, submitted her resignation September 27 after irritating her bosses, who allowed her a two-month leave in June without knowing she was using the break to film the television show, which is now being shown over 16 weeks.
“She wasn’t forthright,” a source told The New York Post. “Some people in the office found it offensive. That’s not the image that they’d want to project.” Officials of the DA’s office were also described as displeased when she attracted attention in court that was not based on her professional performance.
When her bosses found out she was a contestant on the show, Saeidi-Azcuy was transferred from prosecuting misdemeanor cases in Brooklyn Criminal Court to a lower-profile post, in which she prepared cases for trial but did not appear in court.
“If we knew she would have been on ‘The Apprentice,’ it would not have been approved,” said Jerry Schmetterer, a spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.
Now that she is no longer with the DA’s office, Saeidi-Azcuy said she would be interested in competing for the Miss Universe competition. “One thing that would be kind of a natural fit for me would be the Miss Universe competition,” the Iran native told Iranian.com. “One of my passions is, I believe every woman can be beautiful. And when you feel beautiful, every other part of your life is a little bit better.”
On last week’s third episode, the men’s and women’s teams were tasked with running a hotel and spa for dogs. Since the women won the task, all of the female contestants were safe. James, the project manager from the men’s team, was fired.
The Iranian contestant is safe until next week, when again, another contestant will be fired. The show, created by Mark Burnett, airs Thursday nights at 9/8 central. The show’s website is: http://www.nbc.com/the-apprentice.
