Dorris Lessing (photo), who was born in Iran in 1919 when her father was a bank manager there and went on to win the Nobel Prize for literature, has died at 94. Lessing left Iran at five when her family moved to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and did not get to Britain until she was 29 years old in 1949.
