President Pezeshkian is surrounded by children as he started Ramadan by holding the evening fast-breaking iftar meal for a large group of enthusiastic orphans from local orphanages. However, the president then announced that, unlike his predecessors, he will not hold other iftars during the fast month. He said when resources are scarce, the president should be the first to cut back on expenses.
